Rotterdam and Europort sign strategic partnership

08 September 2022

The international maritime exhibition Europort and the city of Rotterdam have recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement. This means that Rotterdam – the Maritime Capital of Europe- will  be the official host of Europort 2023. Both parties aim for a long term partnership and have therefore expressed the intention to extend this cooperation for at least 2 more editions.

Rotterdam and Europort are established brands in the maritime world and share an equal vision when it comes to the industry challenges and opportunities ahead. Both have the ambition to lead the transition to a sustainable and innovative maritime sector.

Raymond Siliakus, Director Europort says: “We are delighted with this new partnership. Our industry is in full swing; reducing the carbon footprint and digital transformations require hands-on innovation. Rotterdam has always exerted a magnetic attraction on pioneers and market leaders.  By joining forces and by pursuing a joint innovation agenda, we can create impact for our industry and all stakeholders involved”. Four highly topical themes will lead the Europort 2023 agenda of : ‘Energy Transition’, ‘Digitalization’, ‘Ship Finance’ and ‘Human Capital’. These themes connect seamlessly with the ambitions of the maritime city of Rotterdam.

Rotterdam is home to one of the most complete and competitive maritime clusters in the world. “As a world port, pioneer and driver of maritime transition, Rotterdam is the place to be for shippers, shipowners, traders, investors and maritime companies that want to grow, innovate and lead the way in energy transition and digitalisation” says Robert Simons, Alderman for the Port, Economy, Hospitality and Governance of Rotterdam. “We would like to maintain this leading position. The cooperation with Europort – one of the world’s leading trade shows in shipping –  will certainly contribute to this,” Simons said. That is why the city and region are once again committing to be the official host of this exhibition. Together with Europort and regional partners such as Smart Delta Drechtcities, Rotterdam wants to shape the maritime future.

The collaboration was confirmed in the presence of the Dutch and international business community at the SMM trade fair in Hamburg. For Europort 2023, the city sends an open invitation to these companies to come to Rotterdam as well.

The next edition of Europort will take place from 7 to 10 November 2023 in Rotterdam Ahoy. More information about the exhibition and conference program can be found on www.europort.nl. More information about Rotterdam Maritime Capital of Europe can be found on www.rotterdammaritimecapital.com.
